🎙️ New Format Takes the Next Step: Radio Practice and University Podcast Plans
Another exciting step in the development of New Format.
We have now signed up for radio practice opportunities at the University of Westminster, giving us a chance to gain more hands-on experience with professional broadcasting, audio production, microphones, mixing equipment and studio workflows.
During our time at the university, we want to use every opportunity available to us to develop practical skills across film, television, journalism, streaming and audio production. Radio is another important part of that journey.
Our next goal is to work towards launching New Format podcasts recorded from the university, subject to studio access, scheduling and university arrangements.
We would like the podcast project to become another part of the New Format platform — a place where we can discuss film, television, gaming, technology, media, university projects and the creative industries, while also inviting other students and future collaborators to participate.
The Westminster Waves facilities give us an opportunity to learn how professional radio and podcast production works in practice — from preparing a programme and working with microphones to recording, editing and presenting content.
For us, this is not simply about recording a podcast. It is about continuing to build the skills and experience needed to develop New Format into a wider multimedia platform combining written journalism, video production, livestreaming, podcasting and digital content.
